Treatment Options

Benign Adrenal Tumor Treatment. The treatment of benign adrenal tumors has been revolutionized by the application of laparoscopic or minimally invasive surgery. During laparoscopic surgery long thin surgical instruments are inserted through small incisions allowing removal of tumors in a less traumatic way than traditional surgery. This facilitates more rapid recovery of patients and is associated with less risk of complications. The urologists and surgeons at The Lacks Cancer Center have extensive experience with this surgical approach, which has been offered here for over a decade.

Adrenocortical Cancer Treatment. Surgical removal is the primary treatment for adrenal cortical cancer. Small tumors may be removed laparoscopically, but the removal of large tumors is more complicated and usually requires an abdominal incision. If the cancer invades any of the surrounding organs, they have to be removed as well. These intricate procedures are best performed by a urologist or surgeon and surgical team with extensive experience in such operations, such as the The Lacks Cancer Center team.
